This is another of those shows that you have to be ready to engage with because it’s not a sit back and be passive type of thing. And there’s lots of audience participation – not just from the front row, so it’s just as well to sit there in order to see everything.
It says mime in the programme, and although there are some spoken words too, almost everything is conveyed using Mr Wakenshaw’s extremely versatile body and face. There isn’t a strict narrative, but the links between each element are quite unexpected but also work brilliantly. Those individual elements are… riotously funny, of course, but also sometimes wince-inducing, mortifying and a tad nauseating.
The audience are very much part of this show (I loved being part of the soundtrack), and although the audience I was with gave loads back, I have no doubt wonders would be worked with anyone. Really ingenious theatre.
