Fresh from a slot on The John Bishop Show Funmbi Omatayo is enhancing his burgeoning reputation with a solid show in the Gilded Balloon Study.

Funmbi is a calm, relaxed and funny guy who tells his often self-deprecating tale of an Nigerian lad, him, living in London, going back to Nigeria for a while before returning and has many an anecdote along the way eliciting plenty of laughs along the way.

He tells of encounters with the police when changing a wheel, the fun he has with giving his full traditional name, rivalry with other ethnicities in London as a boy and the culture shock when back in Nigeria. This is followed through with his return and changes that have occurred and his football club allegiance.

Omotayo first came to my attention a couple of years ago when he won The Amused Moose Laugh- Off Award as a slightly raw talent and it is great to see his progress over a short time. I am convinced he will be playing much bigger rooms soon.

Word of advice. The Gilded Balloon study is actually located within The Pleasance Dome, not Teviot House.
