Lee Nelson: Suited and Booted 4****

| On 16, Aug 2015

Simon Brodkin’s alter ego, Lee Nelson, has chucked the tracksuit and gone for a more mature look in his suited and booted show. The costume might have changed but it’s still the same cheeky chappy character interacting with all the legends in the audience. The show attracts a wide age range and an age auction carried out finds the spread to be from 13 to 72. Lee of course uses the eldest and youngest members to bounce many of his gags off throughout the show.

He’s a likeable character and it’s a fun, energetic show with lots of laughs. There is a lot of set material about his parenting skills, relationships, politics, immigration, Scotland versus England and more, but mostly it’s audience participation that gets the banter flowing. He plays the ignorant cockney chav very well, pretending he knows nothing about a subject, then coming out with a few witty puns about it. He even has a Q and A session at the end where of course everyone wanted to know about his recent stunt with Sepp Blatter and his time spent in a Swiss prison.

This is a very popular show with some nights already sold out, well worth catching.
