Clare Plested – Flock-up 5*****

| On 08, Aug 2016

I have seen Clare Plested as a comedy actress, a stand –up and as a character comedian for probably more years than we would both care to remember and the consistent elements of every performance are her talent, enthusiasm and the quality of the material she delivers. And rest assured the 2016 show is right up there with the very best of her work.
The first character the ‘Queen of Grilled’ a street food cook who grilled her food and the audience started off the hour, Kalya Kayle an exponent of alternative juicing followed, Missy Marples a distant relation of Jane, who is a dodgy store detective, a brief call-back to ‘Mum’s Night out’ from 2015 before finishing off with children’s entertainer Rapunzel. The necessary time for her to change costumes was covered by VTs of Kelly Zee complete with #s commenting on life.
Even before the beginning Ms Plested was working her audience and the pace and energy she generated never flagged one iota, neither did the laughing and enjoyment of the Saturday night crowd.
This was the ‘settling in’ night of the run. She claimed it would get slicker. I have no idea how ‘cos it’s a well-polished hour already.
As part of PBH’s Free Fringe entry is free but a bucket collection is requested at the end. so fold your contribution and put it in before leaving.
