Zach and Viggo: Thunderflop 3***

| On 13, Aug 2016

Zach told us that they love what they do, and it’s clear they have a blast doing it. I do believe that it’s customary to ensure that the audience does also. There were some pretty big and unusual asks for audience participants which made even me, hidden in a corner and with no chance of being chosen, pretty squirmy.

Despite all of that (can we petition the Fringe to make ‘participation’ a little box, similar to ‘18+’ or ‘international audience’?), most of the audience seemed to have a good time, even the people less or more willingly pulled on stage. It’s a mix of sketches and cartoons, with some silliness and slapstick thrown in. It’s also a mix of quality, of which some was a little too easy, a little too trite (the minister, for example) given the quality of some of the rest – like the claw machine skit.

I didn’t feel complete confidence in their command of the show and what might happen, so it was difficult to completely surrender to it. However, this pair are personable and likeable, and dealt extremely well with the most uncooperative audience victim. A fun hour.
