If you are free at 6.35pm any evening I urge you to make your way to the Assembly Rooms in George Street and join in the revelry with the wonderful Choir of Man. The Music Room has been converted into The Jungle Bar, a bastion of the fast disappearing local, where the customers sing and dance with great gusto and the audience is treated to a free beer and encouraged to join in with the singing and dancing. There are songs old and new, some impressive clog dancing and glasses, trays, mops are all used as props. There is even an harmonic trip to the urinals! I was surrounded by a wide range of ages, and everyone was raving about the show as they left the theatre. Frankly, any show that allows me to sing The Impossible Dream at the top of my voice with a glass of beer deserves the full quota of stars I can give. Go and see – you’ll love it!
