Christopher Macarthur-Boyd – The Boyd With The Thorn in His Side 3*** - One4Review

Christopher Macarthur-Boyd – The Boyd With The Thorn in His Side 3***

| On 08, Aug 2017

I guess this may have not been the ideal gig to see Christopher Macarthur- Boyd really perform at his best as there were a number of things against him, some won’t change, and others could
His venue is a nice space but it up a million steps and for us oldies it is hard work. Also competing with a musical next door with atrocious noise bleed didn’t make it easy for him. But the small audience must have had the average age of nearly sixty, hardly his normal demographic I’m sure.
Glaswegian Christopher ploughed on manfully, I’m sure he tried to tailor his set to be more accessible for the golden oldies and he had some genuinely good material however I’m sure another crowd would have seen a different young guy perform as I know he can.
He talks at length about his family, his ex-girlfriend, his appearance, anecdotes about his recent trip to Australia and of course Brexit, Trump and Scottish Independence, material that was well written and presented, it’s just that the room was lacking in energy and his performance suffered a bit from this.
