Back by popular demand, Hot Brown Honey returns to the Edinburgh Fringe. The atmosphere is built up by our compare Lisa encouraging the audience to make some noise.
The stage is lit by a giant honeycomb structure where the DJ, MC Busty Beatz, hosts an evening of dance, circus, burlesque, beatboxing and singing.
The hilarious costumes and comedy seem at odds with the political content of a show that covers racial prejudice, rape and sexism. However it is certainly a way of getting your attention to these issues. The acrobatic routine about rape is a particularly moving performance.
The Hot Brown Honeys are the queens of burlesque with their cleverly performed routines and costume changes. The extraordinary reverse striptease showcased by a Polynesian dancer is simply mesmerising.
This is certainly an extraordinary cabaret, providing powerful political messages through a content of outrageous antics and amazing performances.
