Award Winning playwright and stand-up comedian Keir McAllister has been on the Scottish comedy scene for more than a decade, and yet this is his first solo hour. I could hardly believe it. Of course he has been involved in many other shows along the way.
McAllister has, as always, keenly observed and delightfully written material and with his charismatic stage presence the hour passes all too quickly.
Once he has warmed up the audience he is straight down to business and takes them through his material on subjects such as the Fringe, Edinburgh Ghost tours, his dislike of Xmas, John Lewis adverts, dog sitting, a sexually humiliating experience, family issues and being known as a political comedian of course the Brexit, Trump, Boris, Theresa May and so on material is pretty high on his agenda.
McAllister definitely has a way with words, his descriptions make characters and situations seem almost tangible and he can always find the funny in even the strangest situations.
His solo show has been a long time coming but it was certainly worth waiting for. Let’s hope it is not so long till the next one.
