Shed 7 were a Brit Pop band of note during middle to late 90’s and Alan, our quiz host and comic was very much part of their success. So this is what rock stars do when the band splits!
Alan Shed, real name Alan Leach, the Shed was borrowed from his band, turned his hand to comedy with limited success, before hitting on the idea of hosting quizzes, well everyone love a pub quiz right? And he could intersperse the rounds with some of his humour as well. Successful the formula seems to be he has brought his very hi-tec interactive ventures to the Fringe daily.
It is a real quiz, with tablets, teams, songs, polls and loads and loads of laugh-out-load moments as Shed conducted this hour of top notch afternoon entertainment. Alan has stage charisma and charm and generates real competition amongst the groups, ten at the performance I witnessed.
This was the first show of the run and given it’s reliance on temperamental ‘techy gear’ I was amazed that it flowed as well as it did. No doubt it will tighten up and would certainly benefit from a larger crowd, but it was a great way to start of my Fringe viewing and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone, especially if you like a fun quiz.
