Neil Delamere:- End of Watch 4****

| On 12, Aug 2019

Back in his native Ireland Delamere is a superstar and it seems there are quite a few of his countrymen who follow him to Edinburgh too. But they are not alone. For years now Neil has been a hot ticket.
For this year’s offering he has the story of buying a good watch for his father’s 84th birthday as the main thread, something he related in stages throughout the hour. His words painted pictures so vividly the people involved were almost tangible.
In between chapters of the story Neil delivers his beautifully crafted stories on such topics as selfishness with phone charging, getting his car stuck on a busy beach, teaching a teenager to drive using apps, his grandma, millennials, obesity, pub names and ear hair removal give him plenty of scope, and his crowd work is second to none. Eliciting information, running with it, using it in call-backs, he has all the tools of his trade honed and polished up to the max.
So does he get the watch? Does he get the discount? D’you think I’m going to tell you that. No, you’d better get to the box office now while you still may have a chance of getting a ticket to find out.
