The Showstoppers’ Kids’ Show 4****

| On 10, Aug 2019

The Showstoppers’ Kids’ show is hilarious and chaotic improvised musical theatre where the story is created from the suggestions of the children so is completely different every day. The cast are genius at managing to produce a song or dance for every single idea given to them. It is high energy with many willing participants in the audience and the performers are great at including as many children as possible.

On the day I attended the story was set in the future, the protagonist was Rapunzel who was best friends with a wolf who made cookies. After eating one of the cookies Rapunzel wanted to dance all day forevermore. Rapunzel then travels to a very cold place, meets an angry polar bear and Peppa Pig, who has developed a very deep voice over the centuries, makes a brief appearance. Every response is taken on board and used in the show and the children and desperate to be involved. Although, in the show I saw, there seemed to be a worrying obsession with dying coming from the little ones. Many of the young attendees are invited up on the stage to learn a new dance, the robot one in this instance, and have a great time. At the end of the show all the children can come on stage and draw a picture of the story they’ve heard that day to take away.

This is a fabulous fun show that the children get completely absorbed in and it is great for helping build confidence in the little ones as they are never made to feel silly or that they’ve given a wrong answer. Highly recommended good family fun entertainment.
