Jamie D’Souza – Stop Drawing Willies on my Poster 4**** - One4Review

Jamie D’Souza is performing his debut Edinburgh hour, and what a lovely hour it is too. He looks like he is barely out of school himself, in fact he is a little older, but has the ‘fortune’ to have two school kids on his front row, he is a little uncomfortable with this, but admin done he moves effortlessly into his material.
D’Souza references his show title explaining it is about his school days and beyond and the fact that school kids love to draw willies in everything.
The pandemic of course rears its head and strange auditions he was sent on by his agent, but the ongoing theme is about a school boy crush on Eve, a Goth, in his year, and how a lot of his life decisions are linked with this obsession. His vey unsuccessful band feature, accompanied by videos and SoundCloud recordings, love of a different style of music, school subjects, Drama GCSEs, smoking , veganism, family members and the death of his home town Staines are stopping off points, but is really all about Eve.
Jamie is a very likeable non-threatening comedian, occasionally seeming slightly vulnerable. This is a pleasant and funny hour, yet if it is not well received, well he has a disclaimer ready.
