Olga Koch – Just Friends 4.5**** - One4Review

I had my first experience of seeing Olga Koch live, although word of mouth and occasional TV appearances prepared me somewhat, neither came close to the reality.
Striding into her venue, to Shania Twain, bedecked in a cowboy hat she quickly explains the show is about ‘hoe culture’ and lists things and people, some expected others less so to set the scene and the tone of the hour.
The performance continues with Olga facing a breakup, but hoe culture is going to get through it. She plans to set up a threesome, although what dynamics are involved, seduces a rock drummer, because she could, talks of her bisexuality, references an ABBA themed restaurant, dick pics, even got audiences members to read out messages from her on stage phone, oh and there is a piece about Captain Tom and his family.
Olga is a smart intelligent performer, who writes and performs her hour with style. She comes over as confident, yet when a potential romance rears its head, then there seems to be a different side to this sassy woman, but then perhaps this is Hoe culture too.
The show is a hoot. She owns the space and has the entire audience howling with laughter throughout. She should be prescribed on the NHS if laughter really is the best medicine.
