Lorraine Hoodless – Bumpy 3.5 - One4Review

Lorraine Hoodless – Bumpy 3.5

| On 21, Aug 2022

There definitely plusses and minuses in performing Free Fringe shows, the big plus being you do not lose a small fortune as you might in a bigger pay venue, but the draw back of this people tend to wander in and out of a pub back room often with sound spillage from the bar and people may not be totally invested in the show.
However, with all that, there is a chance to catch an artist who thoroughly deserves to be seen, and this show was a case in point.
Scots born Lorraine Hoodless drummed up a decent audience, and they stayed once in no wandering in and out. She has a pleasing demeanour and delivery style and plenty of funny material to fully sustain her 45-minute show.
The show is well structures moving seamlessly from one topic to another, talking about the inevitable lock down, Amazon purchases, relationships, house move, affairs of the heart from a 3 year old, as well as a medical procedure or two along the way. She also works well with the audience, finding common ground in some purchases even, and also talking a little ahead of potential family additions.
Lorraine has a real show here, and although belly laughs were a little short on the day I saw this, there was plenty of well written funny material. And who knows, with a livelier crowd it should fly.
