Morgan Rees: Bi and Large 4**** - One4Review

Morgan Rees is an exuberant bundle of energy, turned up to eleven in his introduction and there to remain for the remainder of the show. He’s an upbeat Welshman who’s accent has the delightful quality of becoming more or less pronounced depending on the needs of the comedy. That comedy capitalises on the escapades of his family, and his experiences of coming out as bisexual, and he does an excellent job of taking experiences which are emphatically not universal and making them, if not relatable, then at least very funny.
Mr Rees is evidently a skilled performer, from his minor riffing on audience interaction, to earning and banking both large laughs and engagement early on. There’s a high frequency of funny in this show, as well as a relatively high sexual content – Mr Rees leans in to any awkwardness around this subject pushes on through until if you’re not laughing at the topic, you are laughing at the awkwardness.
His comedy is the style of observation, though, as mentioned, not immediately relatable, but he’s very good at drawing out the ridiculous and the absurd and making it entirely understandable. It’s not an entirely whimsical show, Mr Rees has some points to make about how we treat sexuality, and this message gives the show some solid foundations from which to venture into laughter. A lovely bouncy show.
