Pernille Haaland: Resting Confused Face 4**** - One4Review

Pernille Haaland: Resting Confused Face 4****

| On 17, Aug 2022

After some crowd-work which felt more like group-work and involved going round the entire audience and finding out everyone’s names, home towns and professions, Ms Haaland delivered a delightful show of observational stand-up, drawing on her recent experience of moving in with her parents in very-rural Norway. It’s not just about that, there’s other things covered too – therapy, wanting to be liked, breakups and sex – and a delightful and liberal use of both her English and Norwegian accents.

Once into the show proper, Ms Haaland delivers a good set, with rhythm and pace, consistent – and consistently good – punchlines throughout to keep the small audience genuinely laughing and interested, and call backs towards the end making everything neatly circular and nicely packaged. While crowd-work maybe is a skill for development, Ms Haaland’s stage presence was secure and confident, and she delivered a lovely show with aplomb.
