For more than a few years now stand up comedian and writer of this black comedy Keir McAllister has written a play that is produced at the Edinburgh Fringe. Each time he ropes in a few of his comedian mates to play the roles. It is a tried and tested formula and it works well

This years offering is centred in the flat of Finn, played by Gus Lymburn, and starts with the arrival of Ally, portrayed by Gareth Mutch.

Two years ago Finn gave up work, left social media in essence he just disappeared. Ally, his friend of many years had a chance encounter that led him to arrive at the door unannounced and is looking for some answers as to what had become of the guy who was his best man. But there is a problem. Finn doesn’t want to answer them or even have anything to do with Ally. And won’t say why.

And there we have it, a plot with twists and turns, revelations and discoveries that keeps the attention and the intrigue going until the very end.

McAllister directed the play himself and drew strong performances from both Lymburn and Mutch who made the most of their characters.

The only slight issue was due to the nature of the space, with no raised stage, occasional action that was ‘low level’ could be a bit difficult for most to see. However, most was standing so this was not too problematic.

McAllister has won awards for previous offerings, who would bet again further one for this year’s production.
