Topics up for discussion in Marc Jenning’s sold-out show include why he’s living at home in his 30s and how it hits different to his 20s and a host of issues familiar to lots of us from communicating with an ageing Dad, trying to sleep, meditation, trying to lose weight (we’ve all had that blow out meal prior to the diet, right?), and deciding how to dress for a GP appointment – do you dress for your diagnosis?
He gets lots of laughs from his sold-out audience at Monkey Barrel and delivers a highly relatable show. Marc suffered the sudden loss of his mother during Covid and the second part of his show reflects on his experience of that time, although deeply personal and poignant he is able to draw chuckles from the crowd as he recounts with great affection the impact his Mum had on those around him. I felt Marc started off strong but the rhythm drifted halfway through the show – but all in all a decent laugh and worth seeing. Top tip – bring a fan, the aircon is broken!
