| On 08, Aug 2023

Mog the Forgetful Cat is a feline fable filled with whimsy and wonder. Mog has always been an icon in the world of children’s stories. Judith Kerr’s much-beloved feline bounces off the page and onto the stage in this captivating co-production by The Wardrobe Ensemble, Old Vic, and Royal & Derngate Northampton.

As we take our seats the auditorium is alive with cat songs, creating a lovely buzz for what’s to come, our narrator joins the stage to encourage the audience to share tales of their own pets and favourite animals. Who can forget the hilarious snail named Fred? But it’s Mog that we’re here for and the wonderful cast, accompanied by a lovely piano played on stage delivers a downright adorable adaptation.

A joy for the family and feast for the senses, we dive into the enchanting world of Mog, the forgetful feline who springs onto the stage in a colourful musical that will have your toes tapping and smiles wide.

We are taken through 3 of the more memorable Mog stories and they transport us through the seasons, colourful spring to chilly winter, the stage is always dazzled with something colourful and bright to keep little ones captivated throughout. Mog moves through the world of yappy puppies, encounters the notorious V.E.T. and tries to avoid the cat show, one thing is clear, she loves the Thomas family.

This is a slick and polished showcase of talent. There’s certainly no mothballs on this production, it’s pure catnip. For families, fans, and feline aficionados alike, this musical adaptation is a must-see. And as you exit the theatre, don’t be surprised if you find yourself humming along to the unforgettable tunes of this enchanting production.
