Very pleased to see that Goose’s Quizzes Elimination Game have, once again, migrated back to Edinburgh for this year’s Fringe.

Quiz Master Goose (Andrew Wildgoose) was yet again strutting his stuff by leading the V-formation, and this time with a new swanky blazer, through an interactive quiz on film, music, gossip, sport and culture whereby crowning (literally) the worthy winners at the end of each round.

No sooner had I sat down, I was up standing and ready to move into the ever-hopeful correct corresponding colour for my chance to win genuine (and pretty good) prizes. It ‘goose’ like this: you stand either in the red, green, or yellow section marked on the floor. If you answer right, you go through to the next round, this repeats until the last quiz genius is standing – hence Elimination Quiz.

I really enjoyed the social psychology; it turns out that I am not the independent thinker that I’d thought I was. When I didn’t have the foggiest, I would join the group with the most people in – a good strategy, alas it has its limitations as unfortunately, as I was not lucky enough to win a round, but I got a sticker that reminded me that it is indeed the taking part that really does count.

This show is incredibly engaging, funny and doesn’t take itself too seriously. If you’re a local like me, who’s been slogging it at work all day and has zero energy, then this energising elimination game would be great for you. Or, if you’re about town, on a date or with your possie or colleagues I would recommend Goose’s Quiz Elimination Game as an aperitif to pave your way into a night of Fringe adventures.
