Paul Merton & Suki Webster’s Improv Show - 5***** - One4Review
one4review | On 12, Aug 2024
I have always thought that Improv comedy is often best served in a smallish room. But this was in the 700+ Pleasance Grand, but it worked, oh how well it worked.
I suppose it was a given, Paul Merton and Suki Webster have been amongst the best in the business for years, aided and abetted by Mike McShane, Charlotte Gittins and with the very versatile Kirsty Newton on keyboards, it was a stellar lineup.
The format was tried and tested, but a different game or two freshened up the process. They breezed through their hour with class, nonsense, inventiveness and a whole barrel load of laughs, and what was evident also they seemed to be having as much fun and the sell-out audience were, which made it even more special. Oh and of course we, the audience, get to shout out likely, or more often unlikely suggestions for this uber talented group to incorporate.
If, like me, you haven’t seen Improv for a little while, then where better to get reacquainted with the medium, and I doubt there would be a stronger selection of performers to entertain.
This is only on a short run, so be quick, tickets are selling fast.
