Burnistoun Live at the Fringe 4**** - One4Review

For Burnistoun fans who have been missing the show since it left our screens in 2012, the live show was a welcome inclusion in the Fringe Programme. There may have also been a revival with the recent addition to the show on Netflix. As a fan of the show myself I was pleased to see Iain Connell and Robert Florence resurrect many of the characters from the series.
The show kicked off with the duo as the quality polis trying to talk down a potential “jumper” using their usual tact and diplomacy to great comedic effect. Jolly Boy John was a big favourite with the audience and the yoga, silent disco, and acting sketches went down particularly well with the help of Louise Stewart and Gerry McLaughlin as support.
Both actors were clearly enjoying themselves, they have a good rapport and at times struggled to keep a straight face. I personally would have liked to have seen something of Scott and Peter but some new characters worked well.
There were obviously many fans of the series in the audience but I don’t know how well it translates to the non-Scottish people and quite what they would make of it. If you’re a fan and can get tickets it is definitely worth a visit.
