Omid Djalili – Shmuck for a Night 4**** - One4Review

Omid Djalili – Shmuck for a Night 4****

| On 24, Aug 2016

Making a flying visit the Fringe after being away for far too long, actor, comedian and generally nice guy Omid Djalli is already posting sell-out signs at the massive Pleasance Grand.
4.00pm in the afternoon is not the usual time one would expect to see a top name comic and perhaps the early start time was reflected in the age demographic of the audience, something that Djalili was aware of and mentioned more than once.
He is a very charismatic performer, and always has very funny stuff to say and this show is certainly of the usual high standard. He talks about a variety of subjects, ethnicity, Twitter offence, emojis, Olympics and of course politics with Brexit and Trump getting honourable, or should that be dishonourable, mentions as one might expect.
Djalili is of course an excellent actor with major movies and TV work on his CV and when he combines these talents with his mimicry skill to caricature Shakespeare, Mandella, Tutu and Hollywood studio heads he is probably at his best. And then of course there is the catchphrase!
It is great to have him back in Edinburgh and the show was an hour in the company of a real great. Don’t be the one to miss out.
