Gordon Southern – Long Story Short 4*** - One4Review

Gordon Southern – Long Story Short 4***

| On 25, Aug 2016

Gordon Southern is one of the Fringe regulars who is guaranteed to have a quality hour of material, well prepared, honed and delivered as only this Anglo scot can, oh and there are always a number of ‘fun facts’ thrown in along the way.
The underlying theme is of his father being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and how this has somewhat changed the dynamic in their lives. He handles this in a caring and understanding way, but is able to make situations funny although often touched with pathos
Southern’s dad was involved in the motor trade himself. In spite of being a huge fan of Billy Connelly, Bill, Gordon’s dad, always thought Gordon’s career as an actor and comedian was ‘acting the goat’ rather than a career.
Some of the points than are talked about is milk, he does have a thing about it, cue jingle each time it is mentioned, his first car, travelling the world with his wife as they have no kids, veganism, and why it is not always good to meet your heroes.
This is an hour of very good comedy, usually laugh out loud funny but with a slight tinge of sadness as well to supply the shade to the hour. It is as always a show not to be missed.
