One Night Stand : An Improvised Musical  - One4Review

Take a group of eight of Americas up and coming talents add one keyboard player, three audience suggestions and you get a new musical every night. That’s why the show / company is called ‘One Night Stand the Musical’. Several Fringes ago we had another American company ‘Baby Wants Candy’ do the same thing, however this new show is performed by much younger actors probably all in their early 20’s. After receiving the initial suggestions we just don’t know in what direction they will go but then neither do they most of the time. This is their 2nd Fringe and they have certainly built up a following. Some of the audience in front of me were back for the second or third time. Hardly surprising as we have six hunky talented guy’s and two gorgeous equally talented young ladies. The keyboard player has to be commended as many of the musical styles rise from the beats he is playing at any one time. It is obvious they work together a lot and are almost all on the same wavelength as they quickly pick up on each others simple leads, not much discussion is done on the sidelines. Improvisation is difficult at the best of times adding the genre of musicals and the language differences and you can get hooked into a situation that is hilarious. My advice is get a ticket if you can as they are selling out almost every night. ****
