The Return of the Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre - One4Review
Two socks provide a non-stop hour of hilarity. There is a scenario to their double act. They are assuming there are some big shot TV executives in the audience ready to be persuaded to give them a lucrative contract. Songs, sketches and gags pour out in profusion. They open with ‘I am a sock’ a song written in country style in which they mine every possible rhyme with sock. They close with an abbreviated and farcical version of Shakespeare’s King Lear. In between there is a sense of marvelous mayhem. At one point, they refer to famous double acts of the past but the one they didn’t mention was the legendary Scottish duo ‘Francie and Josie’. The Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre is very much in that tradition of Scottish banter humour. Nevertheless, their appeal should be universal. ****
