Kai Humphries: Bare Faced Cheek - One4Review

3***

Now I have to say I like his Geordie comic. I think he has great potential. I also loved his firstEdinburgh show last year and went into this, his second, expecting him to have kicked on.

Bounding on to stage Humphries is easily at home with his opening minutes of audience interaction, so far so good I thought, but when he gets into the meat of his set that I feel he has not progressed as much as I hoped.

He is still a funny lad; he has some really good material, but maybe just failed to get the most of it. I also seem to remember a section of stuff from last years show too, maybe not word for word, but the synopsis was very much the same.

However, there were a couple of sections that were really good. It was different to see a man multi-tasking and telling a series of jokes while doing the Rubik’s cube was entertaining and the finale, I’m obviously not going to give it away, well that was an indication of what the guy can do. Just let’s see more of this standard of material please Mr Humphries. I know you have it in you.
