Alfie Moore – Viva Alf’s Vegas 4 Star ****

| On 20, Aug 2013

One time steel worker and police sergeant Alfie Moore first came to my attention on the TV ‘reality’ Show Me The Funny and having seen his Edinburgh 2012 offering I wanted to see his progress.

Moore has been doing comedy for a few years now and although his presentation is not as slick as some, there is a charm about the man that makes him very watchable.

This show is a lot about gambling addictions, something he has endured for a long time and as well as being somewhat confessional, he also delivers a broadside at governmental encouragement of this vice.

Alfie segues into these messages plenty of gags, some genuinely laugh out loud with the odd corny ones to boot and the special relationship he had with his Elvis loving father who shared his habit.

There are ample laughs, an abundance of facts and a certain amount of regrets poured out during the hour and rounded off in a suitably touching way as suggested by a director whose fee was actually lost in the bookies.

Last year’s show for me didn’t really do it, but this one leads me to want plenty more Moore,
