Danny Ward – Pressure Point 3 Star ***

| On 25, Aug 2013

I suppose having to do a Fringe show while wired up to a tens machine to ease his back pain is something that no performers would want to add to the pressure he already has. Throw in being technically homeless, having an expensive key for his old car cut would all add to his tension. Also being recently diagnosed with high blood pressure he hooks up three audience members to monitoring machines to try and confirm his theory that laughter is indeed the best medicine.

Ward makes these however integral parts of his act, together with some well-prepared rants, and some well thought out and delightfully observed stories of a visit to Teapot Island, living in his aunt’s conservatory and a lil’ole go at Asda were for me highlights.

The big finish was a selection of strange acquisitions he had found in the ‘random goods isle in Lidl’ which did elicit general laughter but dis they fit with the rest of the show?

Ward was a popular comic on the day I attended and has also won the ‘Peoples Champion’ in the Amused Moose Comedy Awards Competition, so I am guessing he is on his way. I look forward to the next show with interest.
