Nathaniel Metcalfe: Enthusiast 3 Star ***

| On 25, Aug 2013

Now let’s get this clear from the off, Nathaniel Metcalfe is a somewhat nerdy comic who obviously has too much time on his hands, if the make-up of his debut hour is a true reflection of himself.

He is a amenably nerd however, and yet while his material for me and a few at the show I attended was certainly not the most cutting edge it was delivered with confidence, and was never confrontational.

He does get caught up in things and although the show was well structured did tend to dwell heavily on this like Neil Buchanan of Art Attack, Through the Keyhole, both TV shows of years gone by and the movie ‘The Barefoot Executive.’ Funny as they maybe initially, I wonder if some of the references would have been lost on his younger audience members somewhat.

It will be interesting to see how he progresses with further shows in his career and I will watch with interest in his choice of subject matter. There is no doubt that Metcalfe lives up to his show title as enthusiasm was the essence of his appeal.
