Ivo Graham: Bow Ties and Johnnies 5*****

| On 13, Aug 2014

Ivo Graham is a lovely, polite, well-brought-up young man, who seems genuinely nice, open and honest. The fact that he explains that his stories are designed to make him likeable doesn’t dampen the effect. He does have a posh accent, and as he explains, he’s had prestigious schooling, but those things don’t matter half so much as if you’re funny. He is. Especially so when off script (silly Tattoo jets).
This is a show about the next chapter in Mr Graham’s life. He’s well spoken and articulate, with excellent diction. The show comprises lots of smaller anecdotes which come together to describe the larger story-arc of the whole show (like lots of little bubbles inside one big one), and there’s a pleasing spirality to it all. He also talked to the whole room (a slightly awkward elbow shape) and I felt included, even though I was right at the edge.
Really funny, intelligent, enthusiastic comedy you can take your mum to.
