Eleanor Morton – Happy Birthday Katie Lewis 4****
Eleanor Morton is without doubt a very talented comedian, and one who doesn’t conform to the norm. She has a fertile and slightly surreal style in her writing and delivery and an early quote of her being the poster child of awkward is definitely accurate.
The running story is of Ms Morton organising a surprise birthday party for her best friend Katie Lewis and we are the guests. This thread gives her the scope to issue party hats, party poppers but also make points along the way of the drifting of friendships partly due to Eleanor’s relocation and Katie’s marriage.
The story of the wedding, hen night, pervious birthday parties, Ms Morton’s family and party games flesh out the story and there is of course her trademark songs, she performs three this year, accompanying herself on either ukulele or tiny plastic keyboard.
So how will Katie like her party? Should Eleanor have invited some of Katie’s Family?
There is no doubt that she is a comic going places. Her set is full of laughs, she has an engaging personality and some very different ideas.
