Tez Ilyas: Made in Britain 4****

| On 08, Aug 2016

Tez provides a really good hour of entertainment. There are lots of amusing anecdotes, many around his Pakistani heritage, his family and religion. He talks about his arranged marriage and his love life, with his tinder story differing from the norm. We get to know a lot about Tez and his life in this show, his childhood experiences, growing up in a Muslim community with divorced parents and how he had a proper job for 10 years before deciding to venture into comedy full time. This may sound quite serious but there are many comical quips surrounding each story.

He’s happy to push boundaries and can somehow even make terrorism and racism funny. He has a really good mix of one minute discussing serious issues such as the political climate in Britain today then quickly lightening the mood with a hilarious one liner. His audience interaction is also very relaxed and we were treated to a game show towards the end to find out how much we really know about him with some further facts revealed.
Tez is a very personable comedian who appeals to a wide audience. The show I saw was pretty much a sell out and the audience certainly seemed to enjoy it.
