Alan, We Think You Should Get A Dog 3*** - One4Review

| On 04, Aug 2017

This piece centres on a brother and sister, Oliver and Daisy, slowly coming to terms with the failing health of their father Alan. Alan never appears on the stage but his impact on his children is evident as both struggle to second guess what is best for their father and react in different ways to try and help him. Both children obviously have issues – Oliver succeeds in work but fails in personal relationships and Daisy has a relationship with Christian but is unable to commit to an artistic career. On the outside of the family unit Becca looks after Alan after Daisy admits defeat.
The play would benefit from a more coherent script and I found the shocking ending jarred, however it is enthusiastically acted by Mad Like Roar with all 4 actors playing their parts well.
