Sofie Hagen is entrancing. This won’t be the show that makes you laugh the most this Fringe, but it will make you think, make you feel better about the world, and will make you really like Sofie Hagen. This is a lovely, gentle show which feels honest and welcoming and genuinely heartwarming.

It is also funny in lots of places. Ms Hagen’s skill seems to be in telling stories that draw you in and build the tension only to dissolve it with a burst of laughter. It’s not constant funny (other emotions are available), but that doesn’t seem to matter because you just really want to sit and listen to anything Ms Hagen cares to say. Those other emotions were audibly expressed by the entire audience: have you ever heard a comedy audience gasp in sympathy after five minutes of listening in enraptured silence? Ms Hagen achieves this and more.

Thoughtful and reflective comedy, and a much-needed respite from the frenzy of most of the Fringe.
