AMUSED MOOSE COMEDY’S NEW COMIC AWARD 2017 - One4Review

| On 01, Jan 2017

The prestigious Amused Moose Comedy’s New Comic Award contest which searches out the next big comedy stars from new talent across the UK, is about to kick off for 2017 with entries opening on 1 January. This exciting talent search for comedy’s brand new comic gems is famed for discovering unknown comedy stars of the future such as previous winners Sarah Millican and Jack Whitehall, with finalists including Josh Widdicombe, Romesh Ranganathan, Kevin Bridges, Jimmy Carr and Greg Davies.
Entrants will initially either be viewed and scored online by illustrious comedy industry panellists across the UK and around the world, or live at qualifying rounds on February Sundays in central London. Therefore entries can be accompanied by a 90-second comedy performance clip, which must be filmed in a comedy venue, if travelling to London for a qualifying round is impractical. Whichever entry route entrants prefer, their entries must be submitted during January 2017.
This innovative online option ensures that no new comedian need miss out from entering Amused Moose Comedy New Comic Award and being involved in the qualifying rounds.
Amused Moose Comedy provides a great launch pad because large numbers of comedy industry professionals including agents, managers, promoters, bookers, producers, critics and PRs from around the UK, but also from Australia, Canada and the USA, accept guestlist invitations to heats and semi-finals, as well as the Final. So this competition is an extremely effective and proven way for new comedy talent to get spotted and get their career off to a flying start!
Uniquely all audiences votes, as well as those of our industry panel, will be taken into account during all live rounds of the competition. These heats and semi-finals will be hosted by Alex Zane, Mark Dolan and Ian Smith throughout March and April at Amused Moose Soho and Amused Moose Kings Cross, with the final taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe, on afternoon of Sunday 13 August, at the splendid Symposium Hall.
As well as all the finalists being given the perfect platform from which to launch their comedy career, the winner of the Amused Moose New Comic title will also receive a shiny moose trophy, with the opportunity to perform as part of Amused Moose Comedy’s Awardwinners Showcases which traditionally takes place in early October at Soho Theatre, London’s foremost comedy theatre, to which those comedy scouts and industry are invited who have been unable to see them onstage before.
Amused Moose Comedy Awards have proved to be a fantastic shop window for new talent, with finalists being quickly signed by leading agents and managers including Off The Kerb, Avalon, Chambers Management, UTC Artist Management and PBJ Management.
