Dane Baptiste G.O.D. (Gold, Oil, Drugs) 4**** - One4Review

Dane Baptiste was impressive the first time I saw him back in 2012 and it has been pleasing to see his comedy career progress through Edinburgh shows and TV work ever since.
Baptiste is an engaging individual who, as always, has a well-crafted hour a combination of his musings and observations heavily laces with funny stories and one-liners.
He, being raised as a moderate catholic, opines that the three letter acronym has more or less replaced standard religions as the things to worship these days and he addresses each subject logically yet while educating sure does entertain throughout his all to short hour.
He emotes on wishing to be a thousandaire, car sharing to save cash and the environment, the reliance on artificial intelligence, the fact that things in 80’s fantasy films are becoming everyday items, the queen’s sexuality, of course Trump and Brexit to some degree are all under his scrutiny. He also has a mid-point commercial break as he attempts to reach his financial goal.
The capacity crowd I saw were well entertained and the laughter that ensued was second to none and when we ended, on a prayer, yes really, well sort of, we were left in no doubt he had spent an hour in the company of a guy that will be at the top for many years to come.
