Mitch Benn I’m Still Here 4**** - One4Review

Mitch Benn I’m Still Here 4****

| On 14, Aug 2017

For twenty years now Mitch Benn has been doing Edinburgh hour shows with a bit and pieces done before so he is a stalwart of The Fringe and is inevitably a big draw for the audiences. Some may have seen him live previously others fans of his work on Radio 4 The Now Show.
Benn has always been to my knowledge an exponent of funny songs, maybe initially changing the words of others as well as writing his bitingly funny compositions. Of course this is not all, he has a wicked sense of humour and well-crafted jokes and stories to punctuate the numbers.
In ‘I’m Still Here’, Mitch relates a potted history of the last 20 years with a selection of the hundreds of songs in his repertoire from the Nineties till a very recent ‘tribute’ to Ed Sheerin. The numbers sounding as fresh now as when originally written.
Mitch has always been a sci-fi lover with Dr Who being his ultimate favourite, he performs at conventions but is yet to become a ‘real’ fan… he’ll explain why.
Inspired by Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds rock musical Benn has started working on his own classic book rock fusion, I won’t tell you which, but there is a number from it previewed so you could be amongst the first to hear it.
