Shazia Mirza – With Love from St Tropez 4****

| On 12, Aug 2017

One can always be assured when attending a Shazia Mirza gig is that proceeding are in a safe pair of hands and that the show will be delightfully written and laces through with enough funny lines to please almost every one.
An AV start, followed by a little warming up, Ms Mirza is straight into proceedings with a segment about filming an up and coming TV series, peppered with both humour and insider information.
Born in Birmingham of Pakistani heritage Shazia leads the audience through some of her family issues, an unusual brand of schooling and what Asian families all keep in their hallway, the punchline gathering a real laugh out loud moment, all delivered in her trademark dead pan style.
Of course feminism, Trump and Brexit do get an airing as do racism, Royal meetings, her former career as a science teacher and the titular trip to St. Tropez giving her scope to expound her thoughts and draw out laughs along the way.
The school teacher in her re-emerges towards the close of the hour with a really well thought out section and another wee dig at her family rounds off an accomplished hour.
