Neil Delamere – Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Pensioner 4****

| On 17, Aug 2017

I don’t know what Neil Delamere has for breakfast but I am certain that whatever it is he has powdered blarney stone on it as he is one of the very best when it come to the craic with his audiences. Of course it helps if they get involved too unfortunately at his gig very little came back for him to work with. Ever the true pro though it didn’t faze him, no way, and as is the norm had more than enough of his story to fill two shows.
His story, about assisting his aging father in delivering meals on wheels in the area, was full of comedy moments and given his ability to paint pictures with his writing the characters were almost tangible. His descriptions of his parents, the meal clients and the finale race against time, drew peals of laughter as did the other stuff such as his career as a radio and TV presenter also delivered the funnies together with an occasional gasp.
Delamere has the demeanour of a mate in the pub, and oodles of charisma to back up his talent. And another bonus his space has the comfiest seats I have encountered this Fringe, yet another reason to go and enjoy.
