Drag artist Ripley provides a political drama with a fabulous performance of lip-synced comedy, drag, politics and pop music.
Ripley cleverly adapts lyrics to well known songs that fit in with the political news stories that are shown on a screen at the back of the stage.
She opens the show with an entertaining impersonation of Teresa May as she appears on stage wearing leather trousers and a tweed blazer with a conservative party rosette pinned to the lapel. The performance of the song Vague (set to the music from Vogue) is a hilarious rendition of Teresa’s handling of Brexit. Her impersonation of Melania Trump is brilliant as she talks about the trials and tribulations of being the First Lady of America. She cleverly fits in the song “I Don’t Care” as the news clip of Melania wearing “that” coat appears on screen. Back on home territory, Ripley dressed as Nicola Sturgeon, covers Scottish Independence with songs such as “Like a Sturgeon” set to the music of Madonna.
A huge amount of work has gone into this show, between keeping up to date with current affairs, fitting in the music and the comical lyrics to go with it, the costumes and the not forgetting the fabulous dance routines.
This unique political drag show is well worth checking out.
