Helen Bauer – Madam Good Tit 3.5 ***

| On 13, Aug 2022

Certainly, one cannot fail to notice Helen Bauer. She is a larger-than-life performer whose outgoing personality fills the performing space and then some. Occasionally it is almost overpowering.
With her debut show in 2019 she was nominated for Best Newcomer so having enjoyed that, I was looking forward to seeing her latest offering.
Helen leads the audience through a repertoire of some the phases of her life, a few are constant, her leading lady symptoms, her self-confidence in everything, for example, obviously she has the ideal persons for her job anyway.
She talks of school days in a small Hampshire town, delivering an eulogy just prior to the Fringe, netball, her sisters hamster, repeatedly asking the same boy out while out when at school, yoga instructors and Jacqueline Wilson books are just a few of the stopping off points in a packed out hour.
It is said that the follow up to a huge success is very difficult to achieve. There is no doubting the abilities in her locker, her stage presence is obvious, seems to have energy to spare and she is a likeable factor. For me it may have been better if this was reigned in a little at times as one can get too much of a good thing.
