Wilde Creatures 5***** - One4Review

Tall Stories assembles a fantastically skilled cast to bring to life various characters from writer Oscar Wilde. The story centres on a bleak and boring town, where nothing happens. Four characters, the Mayor, the baker, the student and the Princess, compete for the honour of having a statue erected in their image. Each of these characters’ stories is well developed and acted. At the end of each of their stories, the audience gets to decide if they deserve the statue or not.
What sets this production apart is the quality of the story and of the actors. They are truly talented actors and musicians, and the original songs stuck with me and my six year old all day. There are some truly heart breaking moments that had my daughter shouting “that’s not fair!”. There were also funny moments that had us all belly laughing. The set design was beautiful, especially the final scene.
My daughter and I both agree that this has been the highlight of our festival so far. It is suitable for all ages and the venue, Pleasance One, is excellent. A must see for all ages, and the parents are guaranteed to love it too. There are not many shows left, so see it while you can.
