Alexander Bennett – I Can’t Stand the Man, Myself 4****

| On 24, Aug 2023

In a very intimate room at The Patterhoose,  Alexander Bennett gives us an insight into his life so far, he’s only 30, and how he’s come to the conclusion that he’s not a very nice guy and actually doesn’t even like himself very much.

It feels a bit like a group therapy session in many ways as he relives many of the key moments in his chequered past.  Still living in rented accommodation, house sharing and having no self love all adds up to a feeling of under achievement for this poor lad.
In reality, he’s actually very funny and his set is very cleverly written. He has a very dark sense of humour but his observational style comes across very well.
Ok so he’s been unlucky in love and become vulnerable and exposed but the good news is he hasn’t joined the Taliban yet!
He delivers a decent stand up performance and definitely “one to watch” for the future. A nice set with a great on stage presence with some genuinely hilarious moments.
There, that should hopefully give him the confidence boost to carry on and keep performing!
