George Zacharopoulos : Wonderland 5***** - One4Review

George Zacharopoulos : Wonderland 5*****

| On 08, Aug 2023

George Zacharopoulos is Greek.  The clue is in the name!  George has been living in Newcastle for the best part of twenty years but retains his full on, very endearing, Greek accent without a hint of Geordie.George has progressed from performing his first gig in 2009 in a room above a pub to being named 2023’s international Comedian of the Year by the Comics’ Lounge in Melbourne.  This is not surprising. The tale that George brings to his 2023 Fringe show is something of a Greek tragedy. This is a disarmingly honest, heart on sleeve, brilliant, funny story telling.  There are introductory jokes.  George is setting the scene.  This is accomplished stand up at quite a frenetic pace but is actually is so much more. Just when you think, here’s another comedian talking about relationships, it turns into a sort of Ted Talk.   It’s hilarious, it’s heart felt and thought provoking.

The moral of the story is that if you meet your dream, too good to be true, ideal woman, on Tinder.  Then she probably is just that.  Too good to be true. Catch George if you can.  You won’t be disappointed. 5*****stars Reviewed by Margot Pleasance Dome (10 Dome)
