Elf Lyons – Horses 5***** - One4Review

I am always intrigued as to what Elf Lyons can conjure up for each years Fringe performance as this multi-talented comic, actress, clown, mime artist and director always produces something out of the ordinary and this was no exception.
And we are not long in finding out. This is the first ever show presented by a horse, well several really, as Elf pays homage to several horses, firstly Treacle, we have Pegasus, Sea Biscuit, a dressage horse and others, oh and there are humans as well, especially children, all presented theatrically, with little use of costumes or props, just Lyons using her fertile imagination, and undoubted talent.
There are element of childish playing, deep involved reality and genuine humour blended seamlessly together in an hour that passes all too quickly. The audience involvement is climaxed in the finale, and I can’t remember more adults clamouring to join in the on-stage fun and games so involved the performance.
There is no doubt that this show is both a popular and critical success. Queue is forming outside the venue long before show time eager to be immersed in the experience of witnessing a spectacular showcase from an outstanding artist.
