A Couple of Blaguards - One4Review

The two actor format, in which a whole host of characters are portrayed, places tough demands on the performers. Unfortunately, the actors involved in this play did not meet the challenges successfully. Too many fluffed lines and missed cues simply left the play’s humour flat. My impression was of saying the lines rather than acting the parts. The play started brightly enough recounting the upbringing of two brothers in a very repressive Roman Catholic Limerick sometime in the 1920’s. As the play wore on to the follow the boys as young men in America, it became more ragged and tedious. It is a production to avoid. *
