Company - One4Review
Stephen Sondheim musicals are notoriously difficult to perform although Company may not be one of the most difficult, it still requires very good singers. At first glance The Northumbria Musical Theatre Society looked to have a hit on their hands. Sadly for me this was not the case. Bobby looked almost perfect but I found his vocals quite poor. Not one member of this cast had what I would call a good singing voice. Bobby is double cast but I was unable to isolate the second performer to hear if his voice was any better. I also did not like their method of creating ensemble pieces out of some of the numbers. The performers seemed to be putting one hundred percent in to the show and enjoying it but for me it missed the mark. This is only my opinion and whereas many members of the audience came out raving about it. ***
