It’s hard to know where to start with Daniel Kitson – this rambling show which, although billed as 90 minutes actually came in at closer to 2 hours, is ostensibly about the recent death of Kitson’s auntie who had Down’s Syndrome. However, the comedian covered everything from his stutter, witches, learning to drive, ways to stop overeating, visits to the doctor and his own cleverness. The master of the callback, there was a joke which ran throughout the show after one audience member dared to look at her watch. Although there were a multitude of tangents, and this was the first time the show had been performed in over two weeks (and the last time, by Kitson’s own admission, it was rubbish), the various threads did eventually come together into some kind of conclusion. By the end of his run at the Edinburgh Fringe the show may be a little tighter and more coherent (but then again, maybe not). Kitson displayed his trademark brilliance but for me, nearly two hours of a show that started at midnight, on an uncomfortable stool, in a very hot room meant that following Kitson’s meanderings proved a little more difficult to follow than I would have hoped for.   ****
